Frankfurt Motor Show 2013 Preview

Running up to the Frankfurt Motor Show 2013, IAA 2013, next week here is a gallery preview of what we will cover.  Looks like the bi-annual show will not dissapoint this year as the German car makers pull out all their show stoppers!

Kia Niro

The Kia Niro hints at a possible future B-segment contender ready to take on the urban environment with style and tenacity, and will preview an innovative new powertrain when it is revealed on 10 September.  The car was designed at Kia’s Frankfurt design studio – less than a kilometre away from the IAA – under the direction of Gregory Guillaume, Chief Designer Europe.

Opel/Vauxhall Monza Concept

“The Monza Concept represents the Opel/Vauxhall car of tomorrow,” said Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann, Opel/Vauxhall CEO. “On one hand, it embodies everything that already characterises Opel/Vauxhall – precision engineering combined with innovative technologies wrapped in captivating design. In addition, it addresses the themes that will be the development-focus of the next generation of Opel/Vauxhall cars: maximum connectivity and optimum efficiency.”

Jaguar C-X17

The C-X17 has been created as a design study to introduce Jaguar’s new, highly-advanced, modular aluminum architecture.  The concept illustrates the diversity of vehicles that could be produced using this architecture, which underpins the innovative future of the Jaguar brand.

Toyota Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicle

Toyota believes the Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicle offers the best solution to the challenges of energy sources and emissions, with hydrogen as an ideal, ultra-clean fuel. At the 2013 Frankfurt motor show (from 10 September) it will demonstrate how it has overcome some of the historic barriers to developing a marketable fuel cell vehicle and how it is closing in on its goal of achieving a driving range and performance comparable to conventional petrol and diesel engines, but with no harmful tailpipe emissions.

VW e-up! and e-Golf

In a double world premiere, Volkswagen will be presenting two new and extremely efficient electric cars at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt (10th to 22nd September): the e-up! and e-Golf. This means that Europe’s most successful carmaker is transitioning two high-volume production models to the age of electric mobility. Both zero-emissions* cars offer unlimited everyday practicality, each has four doors, and they are attractively equipped.

Peugeot 208 HYbrid FE

At the Frankfurt Motor Show, PEUGEOT and Total will unveil their technological Concept, the 208 HYbrid FE, a full petrol hybrid with exceptional characteristics and without a Plug-in energy source. The Research and Development teams of the two partners rose to the challenge by establishing a remarkable level of performance, based on a production PEUGEOT 208 hatchback: 0 to 62mph in 8.0 seconds and CO2 of just 49g/km over the official NEDC European Drive Cycle (Combined Cycle figure).

Infiniti Q30 Concept

The Infiniti Q30 Concept signals the contemporary design vision for a compact Infiniti vehicle which will target a new generation of premium customers. Q30 Concept embodies Infiniti’s vision to deliver head-turning design, innovative materials with precise fit and finish and passionate craftsmanship, while provoking a radical shift in the premium compact segment.

Volvo Concept Coupé

Inspired by contemporary, progressive Scandinavian lifestyle and design, as well as iconic elements from the past, the elegant new Volvo Concept Coupé is the first of a series of three concept cars that reveal the design possibilities created by the company’s new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA).  “The Volvo Concept Coupé is no futuristic dream car. It is designed to demonstrate the capability of our new architecture: the confident stance, the proportions and the most prominent design signatures. Even though the all-new XC90 is an entirely different type of car, you will recognise the connection instantly when it is revealed next year,” says Thomas Ingenlath.
