Fifth Maier S. Coop. Design Competition

Brief:  The company Maier S. Coop. announces the “Fifth Maier S. Coop. International Design Competition”. It is an international competition for the design of Vehicles.  The aim of the competition is to award prizes for projects consisting of the best design ideas in the Colour & Trim area for vehicles. The products for vehicle interiors and exteriors on which participants should focus their Colour & Trim ideas are:
    * Front Façade of the vehicle dashboard
    * Door Grab Handle of the vehicle door panel
    * Frontal Module of the vehicle
    * Exterior Door Pillars
A new era in vehicle design is on the horizon and new decoration standards will be required, influenced by factors such as relevance, health and wellbeing, the “just enough” concept, functionality, authenticity, exclusivity, technology and craftsmanship.
    * What makes a design relevant?
    * Can vehicle decor have a positive influence on health?
    * How can we generate wellbeing in stressful driving situations?
    * Can the “just enough” concept generate exclusivity?
    * Can any technology be adapted to vehicle decor?
    * And what about craftsmanship as a source of new decor?

Prize:  There are three prizes 1- Prize for Professional Designers: Award and 8,000 euros, 2- Prize for Students: Award and 4,000 euros and 3- Prize for the best Collection of Samples: Award and 3,000 euros.  If the Jury should consider that none of the projects presented suitably fulfils the conditions for receiving an award, the prizes may be declared void.  The awards are indivisible.  The Jury's decisions are final.  The prizes will be awarded in September 2013 at the facilities of the AIC Automotive Intelligence Center  in Amorebieta – Biscay (Spain).

Michelin Design - Driven / Undriven: The Duality of Tomorrow’s Automobile

Brief: Autonomous technology can allow greater freedom in vehicle design. Designers will have new areas for exploring features and aesthetics that express an owner’s particular passions and functional needs while providing newfound flexibility in time management when in an autonomous mode.
This year’s Challenge takes dual forms:
- Design your future vehicle with unique features and capabilities to engage you and your interests while in the autonomous mode required by increasingly dense urban environments.
- Demonstrate how your creative design transforms your driven vehicle into an extension of your lifestyle and allows you to experience driving pleasure and life’s adventures in new or more meaningful ways.
- Michelin Challenge Design will recognize exciting and passionate designs that employ innovative vehicle architecture and interactive technologies, without compromising functionality, safety or comfort. The vehicle’s capabilities must include dimensional specifications and visual detail of the tire/wheel assembly.

Reddot design award – design concept 2013

Brief: Red Dot is calling on design teams, designers, inventors, students, teachers, research institutes, design departments, architects, engineers, any one with a great design idea to take notice.
Red Dot Award: Design Concept aims to be the defining platform that separates good ideas with good design solutions from the mediocre, to provide a professional evaluation and internationally recognized seal that gives an advantage to the design and designer in the competitive market.
With 3,672 entries from 113 design institutions, 262 companies, 906 designers, 1,245 teams of 3,988 designers from 57 countries in the year 2012 alone, the award has grown to be of international significance for companies, studios, universities and designers alike.

Prize: winners of the red dot design award presenting their concepts to the public for at least a year as part of a large online exhibition. the online exhibition for red dot award: design concept alone receives 200,000 visits a year.

Details: The deadline to send the items are 19 June 2013. You will receive a congratulatory letter before the end of July 2013, if your design concept concept wins a red dot.  Find out more details about the challenge and register in their website.

 

I Design Awards 2013

Brief:  The I Design Awards for Transportation and Mobility Design is a freestyle design competition open to both concept stage and realized works designed by professional and young designers, design companies and other business in this industry in India.  What to Present?  The Transportation and Mobility Products award considers your submission on multiple dimensions, your product is evaluated together with its sustainability, and if applicable maintenance/usage guide. Applicants should send high-resolution images of the product, together with a presentation of its packaging and application guides.  For Transportation and Mobility Projects Design Award, high-resolution images should be submitted.  The best transportation products designs are selected according to form, functional and emotional aspects of the packaging; the designs are considered for their degree of innovation, aesthetic qualities, material choices, functionality and usefulness in addition to ease of realization and realization efficiency, ergonomics and human interaction.  The Aim of the Transportation and Mobility Design Award is to attract the attention of transportation media, design magazines, and industry leads to your business by means of creating publicity and dissemination and also to separate you from the rest of the actors in the mobility design sector by honoring your institution with a prestigious award.

Prize:  The winners appear on magazines, newspapers, webzines and many other publishing mediums.  The winning designs are also exhibited at our exhibition at Product Design Days 2013 21-22 November at Mumbai.
