Ferrari unveils today its revolutionary four-seater, four-wheel drive, FF, V12 Ferrari!

FF is an entirely new GT car concept for the Italian powerhouse, it melds performance with utility.  We normally wouldn’t feature a ‘petrol-head’ car on GCD but we couldn’t resist…this is what design is all about!

The FF is Ferrari’s first ever four-wheel drive car sporting their patented 4RM that weighs 50% less than a conventional four wheel drive system (1 green point!).  The 6262 cc direct injection engine develops 660CV at 8,000 rpm. 0-60 mph in 3.7 sec…hmmm same as the Tesla Roadster Sport 2.5! Although it will benefit from Stop&Start technology the combined fuel economy figure comes in at 18.3mpg with CO2 emissions of 360 g/km.

The four wheel drive aspect is obviously not for off-roading but rather to gain a better weight ratio and grip slicker surfaces allowing the driver to use the car outside of Ferraris common driving territories of racing tracks and the city roads.  That is not all ladies and gentlemen, you can actually take your friends or family with you for that ride, and even take luggage.  Not only is the FF a performance bombshell it also is portrayed as a functional car: for the lucky few, that is, who will be able to get their hands on one!

It seems that Pininfarina, the designer house guilty of such unforgiving beautiful proportions and quality of line have found their mojo!  Since the Sintesi, Pinifarina had lost its passion a bit, probably due to financial problems and the loss of Andrea Pinifarina in a freak auto accident.  Back on track and full of Italian passion and flare they have ignited our hearts once again…cool!
